Project 365: Week 25

Day 163: Going through all the stuff that the last occupant left in the cellar and discovered, along with hundreds of books, such treasures as a camera, cowboy boot (singular), photo of woman with tarantula and best of all... someone's personal (and oh so apathetic) diary! Bingo!

Day 164: I've put this on the wall in the studio where I can see it as I sit and attempt to be creative. Thanks Frankie!

Day 165: I've been on my travels recently to lovely old York to see some friends. More on that later!

Day 166: More house plants!! These ones are gifts from my mum and are flowering!

Day 167: Me, Ben and my sister Sophie went to The Rude Shipyard for tea the other day. Here's me not actually playing a banjo because it was so very out of tune. Not that I would have anyway!

Day 168: Ahhh so cute! Not ashamed to say I was excited to use some of these stickers this week! >.<

Day 169: A week off work so you know what that means! I'm sure we've seen this design before...

What have you been up to lately?

Our New Home

Hey guys, so as you know we moved into our new place recently (an actual house!) so I thought I'd show you around a bit and share our lovely little space. I was going to do the whole house in one post like the last one, but we're currently waiting on a few more pieces of furniture like chest of drawers, bedside tables etc so there are still a few boxes in some rooms.
We had a little house warming this weekend which I'll post about later this week, so we've done a lot of tidying and I thought I'd take that opportunity to take some photos.

We've also got these two new plants as housewarming gifts from friends who came round for the gathering. This first one is the most unusual thing I've ever seen! It's amazing. Its a Euphorbia Lactea, otherwise known as dragon bones and I've just found out that it contains a 'poisonous milky latex'! Haha! Thanks Alex and Neil!

This one is from our friend Saffy and is a lovely little baby palm! She said there are the indoor types that stay relatively small and then there are the others which grow into massive palms and that she didn't actually know which one this was! Haha oh well it's cute and small for now at least.

Other rooms to come later!

The Creative Directory: Wirely

http://www.wirelyhome.com/

In a sentence:
Are you a plant person? Are you terribly chic and have a thing for contemporary minimalism? If so, allow me to introduce you to the wonders of wirely. You're welcome!

Sample the goods:

Crunchy Apple Green Metal Wire Plant Stand

Copper Metal Wire Plant Stand

Mauve modular table top - Medium
Mid century inspired wooden candle holder - Medium

My favourite:

It's pretty hard to pick a favourite but there's just something about yellow that does something to a person's mood. It's a delight to look at! I also really like the mini stands too as Ben and I have a lot of plants on plates on tables, so a short one would be brilliant.

Why:
At last! No more balancing plants inconveniently on the edge of tables where that one ray of sunlight manages to hit every so often. No more craning your head to see around the two foot succulent perched beside - but kind of in front of - the tv. That's us! Now they can stand tall, perfectly placed in corners and by windows.

They're made by Australian duo Emer Diviney and Anne Davies who take inspiration from inherited pieces from family members and the modernist architecture of their surroundings.

The simplicity of the design is so striking, it's very ercol-esque and refreshing for those new spring blooms. If you want to ooh and ahh some more, here's where you can find them:

Current Loves: Cacti

Not just a current love, an ongoing life long love. Ben bought me a beautiful one for my birthday as well as a huge succulent. They currently live with him in Sheffield because I don't want to risk damaging them trying to transport them to York. Plus I'll be moving there myself next month (I've got a transfer with Sainsbury's!) so they're lapping up the sun on his windowsil for now. I can't wait to find a nice sunny corner for them when we get our own place.

Meanwhile, I've found and bought some other things to satisfy my cacti needs...

Kate Broughton

I found these nail transfers on etsy recently and squealed a little bit. I saw them, loved them and now I own them. They're by Kate Broughton and when I visited her full shop - oh my, there wasn't much I didn't want. I also bought the cacti writing set even though they're too nice to send to other people!

Something else I'd love to have in our flat is this 1870's Cactus Botanical Chromolithograph print. In a thin wooden frame it'd look great.

Nachokitty
Lastly, for now, is this shower curtain. I just love it. Hopefully Ben will too, though I suppose he'll have to seeing as I've already bought it...Ha!

H&M
...and now I'm looking at holidays in Arizona...
