Our New Home

Hey guys, so as you know we moved into our new place recently (an actual house!) so I thought I'd show you around a bit and share our lovely little space. I was going to do the whole house in one post like the last one, but we're currently waiting on a few more pieces of furniture like chest of drawers, bedside tables etc so there are still a few boxes in some rooms.
We had a little house warming this weekend which I'll post about later this week, so we've done a lot of tidying and I thought I'd take that opportunity to take some photos.

We've also got these two new plants as housewarming gifts from friends who came round for the gathering. This first one is the most unusual thing I've ever seen! It's amazing. Its a Euphorbia Lactea, otherwise known as dragon bones and I've just found out that it contains a 'poisonous milky latex'! Haha! Thanks Alex and Neil!

This one is from our friend Saffy and is a lovely little baby palm! She said there are the indoor types that stay relatively small and then there are the others which grow into massive palms and that she didn't actually know which one this was! Haha oh well it's cute and small for now at least.

Other rooms to come later!

Project 365: Week 4

Day 22: Check me out taking up a whole 50% of the pic!

Day 23: It's a shame it's blurry but I found this in my glove compartment in my car. Can't remember where or who it's from but it sure looks nice.

Day 24: Popped in to see Ben at work.

Day 25: Spent pretty much the whole of Saturday jamming with Beth.

Day 26: Then Sunday we explored Padley Gorge.

Day 27: Successfully resisted the shortbread at work even though it was RIGHT THERE.

Day 28: One of those photo's I'll look back on in decades to come and think "Ah yes, I remember when we lived there." The view looking out my front door.

Hope you're having a lovely week.

Exploring Padley Gorge

I've been wanting to go to Padley Gorge since the summer when I saw someone's photo that made it look like an absolute wonderland. We're both born tree climbers, that's pretty much all we did from being 12 to about 18 years old. So this was the perfect place for us.
It's in the Peak District just outside the border of Sheffield and has the beautiful Burbage Brook running through it. It was such a good day for it too. Sunshine and blue skies and even some lingering snow on the ground, as if it isn't picturesque enough.

We got wrapped up, took a backpack full of snacks and headed off into the valley!

It was such a cool place. It's worth seeing if you're ever in the area, Beth loved it!

The majority of photos were taken with the Canon Powershot G12 and the last few were from the Konica Minolta.

Solitude

I've always been a very solitary person. I love to be on my own. I think that's where my deep love for the open, deserted expanse of the American West landscapes comes from. My favourite part of No Country For Old Men is the beginning when Llewelyn is alone in the wilderness. When i watch it I just wish I was there doing the same thing. I used to go out exploring on my own all the time. If only I'd had this blog back then there'd be a million adventure posts!

Back in York recently I went off to take some outfit photos in a field me and Ben used to go walking through when we were first together and I noticed this 'abandoned' barn in the distance. I can't find any info about it and I don't know if it is actually abandoned or not but it looked fascinating to me. It's funny, Ben had been playing Red Dead Redemption that morning and this looked like it was straight out the game. I didn't go in because the ground inside looked quite wet and muddy and I was wearing my new Timberland's so I just took exterior photos.

Walking back I just felt so at peace. Like I'd really satisfied a need to be alone. I've probably been craving it without really realising it, what with adopting a new lifestyle of going to work and coming home and paying bills and trying to fit everyone in. This is gonna be one of my goals for this year, I must do more solitary exploring.

Blonde On Blonde

Finally I've made it! I have indeed put blonde onto blonde. Well, not me, Stuart at Laundry did it - and a bloody good job he did too getting rid of all that yellow! Just don't ask me how much I paid, let's just say it better look expensive!
Pearl blonde has been the bane of my life for a while now as you all know. It's been a long journey but I've done it, and I love it.
I'm a bit surprised at myself to be honest. This is a far cry from my staple copper locks. It's been floating in the back of my mind to try blonde for a while. I'm sure you know what it's like when you get a craving to try a different colour. You just have to.

I need to do a serious conditioning treatment tonight though, it's pretty dry. Also, how freaking painful is it to sit under those heat things with peroxide on your head!? Ya better believe I've suffered for this!

I'm following in my mum's (and aunty's) footsteps with this colour, she's been dying her hair blonde almost all her life. So I've put together some photo's of her from being 17 to 30 odd to honour her as being the inspiration for my new 'do!
