Clean Cut Ginger Nut

Today was a big day for me, my bi-annual hair cut! Hah, I am so bad at having my hair cut. I don't know about you but it just doesn't cross my mind. The last time I had it cut was way back in June last year! I've gone for the usual "just chop a load off and put some layers in.. but don't touch the fringe!"

...and yes, as you can see, I have ditched the Bardot bonce. I even had a whole 'how to' post written up about how to go from bleach blonde to ginger. This is because while researching the process I was lead to believe it was gonna be very risky business and why shouldn't I after doing a strand test with a ginger dye that came out purple!? Seriously, always do a strand test first!

But to be honest, I just went for it, put a dark auburn on and it worked! It was as easy as that. I couldn't believe it, I was expecting a right carry on but it wasn't so I had to scrap my original post.

So here it is. Remember the last time I blogged about going ginger? It came out exactly how it looks on the box which is a bit more red than what it looks here, must be the light that's making it look more orange. That's something I'm gonna have to watch out for though, the colour fading and the bleach bleeding through.

That's why I was so looking forward to having my hair cut today and getting a load of the dry stuff off. I'm so happy with it by the way! It feels great and she did a good job too to make it look healthy. I went to Parachute in Sheffield after it was recommended by Alex and Ben and I totally recommend it too. Plus there was a gorgeous puppy roaming around the whole time!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Blonde On Blonde

Finally I've made it! I have indeed put blonde onto blonde. Well, not me, Stuart at Laundry did it - and a bloody good job he did too getting rid of all that yellow! Just don't ask me how much I paid, let's just say it better look expensive!
Pearl blonde has been the bane of my life for a while now as you all know. It's been a long journey but I've done it, and I love it.
I'm a bit surprised at myself to be honest. This is a far cry from my staple copper locks. It's been floating in the back of my mind to try blonde for a while. I'm sure you know what it's like when you get a craving to try a different colour. You just have to.

I need to do a serious conditioning treatment tonight though, it's pretty dry. Also, how freaking painful is it to sit under those heat things with peroxide on your head!? Ya better believe I've suffered for this!

I'm following in my mum's (and aunty's) footsteps with this colour, she's been dying her hair blonde almost all her life. So I've put together some photo's of her from being 17 to 30 odd to honour her as being the inspiration for my new 'do!

Ahh, now to wait for the inevitable fade to brassiness and dark roots.

Re - Gingered

Ah, that feels better!
It always feels good to get back to the colour you love after leaving it so long - and I love being ginger!
I hadn't dyed it since December just before we went on holiday and that was at the hairdressers. Well it's a bit pricey to have it professionally done every two months so I thought I'd do it myself this time. That of course means risking all sorts of mishaps, and of course, they occurred! Actually nothing too extreme to be honest, just a slight case of uneven coverage and I didn't leave it on my roots long enough to begin with so they're still a little darker. Overall though I'm not too concerned and I definitely do love it.
Now I've just got to put the hard work in to maintaining it. (Cold showers throughout winter! Yay!)
I've dabbled with many different makes and shades of copper and this particular one is L'Oreal Sublime Mousse in Flaming Copper.
I'm really loving this one, think I'll stay with it for a while.
