My Outfits #1: Solemn, Sombre, Grave + Serious

Old West

Old West by saltdeep featuring how to wear ankle boots

1. This planter hat of mine, I love it but it's really cheap. I bought it last year for Halloween and intend to wear it this year too (I'm going to be a dead Texan). I really would love a good quality planter with a flat crown.
2. This is one of two white shirts that I have and both are Gok Wan. I got this one primarily for the fact that it's collarless. I've got a thing for collarless shirts, especially on men.
3. My high waisted black jeans from Topshop are a little less black than they used to be! Very over worn but really create a good contrast to a white shirt.
4. I currently have in my possession but not in these photos, a long black blazer. It's my mother's and she's had it for about 15 years. She bought it specifically for a funeral. I love it and I think I may wear it for Halloween too.
5. Good old Timberland boots never let me down!
6. You can't really tell in the photos but I've got a dark burgundy nail varnish on. I'm digging dark colours at the moment. Must be Autumn.
7. A deep, dark lipstick finishes this look off perfectly, I've recently discovered what a difference there is between wearing just lipstick and wearing lip liner and lipstick. Canny believe it.

Back To The Bob

Hey guys, I lost all my hair!

I went to Parachute for my bi annual hair cut. This is the result and I couldn't be happier with it. I've had a good four inches or so off and it feels great. Just in time for our holiday in a few weeks!

I'm growing all my natural colour out as you can probably see. It's coming along nicely and after having such a big chunk cut off it's on it's way to looking dip dyed now!

I'm channeling some serious mod vibes here in my new jumper from H&M, I freaking love mustard yellow, with an old navy woolen skirt from Topshop.

Project 365: Week 32

Day 212: When we came back from Ben's parent's last weekend we brought back my old faithful Epiphone electric guitar. It's been sat at their house untouched for about three years and it was still perfectly in tune, the little trooper.

Day 213: The last time I spoke about our new house was when I showed you guys round the living room. Now I've been inspired to transform the attic room into a proper bedroom and it looks so much better. I even bought a funky rug for it. I'll do a post at some point to show you the rest of the room.

Day 214: Did I mention I'm in a band? Haha yeah me and some of the guys from work have joined musical forces and I ended up meeting this gorgeous guy at band practise at Will's house.

Day 215: We went to our neighbour's anniversary party at Haggler's Corner which they'd hired out for the occasion. It was such a nice place for that kind of thing that I'm thinking of stealing the idea and doing the same for my next birthday seeing as it will be the big quarter century!

Day 216: I came home from work the other day to discover Ben had baked a cake and I couldn't think why. Then I remembered, oh yes, it's our anniversary! I almost forgot because I shamefully let Ben choose his own present as I'm so bad at gifts. It was a garmin for his bike so when it arrived he used it straight away and so I didn't have a present to wrap for him. All was well though, he was so excited to use it and now I'm so excited to use my new kenwood electric hand mixer that he got me!

Day 217: The next day, special homemade anniversary burritos!

Day 218: Whoops had a hair cut. More on that later though. In the meantime look at this cool filter that makes you look all robot-y!

The Creative Directory: Bowler Vintage

http://bowlervintage.co.uk/

In a sentence:
The greatest vintage shop in Yorkshire and certainly one of York's many treasures.

Without a doubt, every time I visit York I visit Bowler and last Tuesday was no exception. As soon as you walk in the door you're presented with this vast emporium of richness. I can't stress enough how much I love this place! I have so many things I've bought from here. I've got my sunglasses, polka dot shirt and two paisley shirts and a wooly hat for Ben.
It's such a good place for vintage gear because they have such a large range of everything, you're really spoiled for choice. I must take Alex here some day, she would just die!

The sunglasses here are always absolutely killer. I was umm-ing and ahh-ing over those orange ones for a long time. I eventually decided it was probably for the best to save my last bit of cash for the bus. Seeing them again now has made me realize that was a terrible decision. Style before common sense God damn it!

It's a must see in person if you're ever in York but if you're further a field you should have a look through the online shop.
Ps. Check out their Instagram for the cutest dog you'll ever see!

2014 In Outfits

Merry Christmas everyone! Crikey I've been so consumed by flaming puddings, fine port and finishing Breaking Bad (anyone else in love with Mike?) that I forgot this weeks Five Favourite Reads!
Anyhoo, onwards!
This year has seen the very beginnings of this blog. It's one year birthday is coming up next month and yet I'm still not sure what I'd categorise it as. Lifestyle most likely, I definitely had the intention of making it more of a fashion and outfits blog to begin with though, there's even been a what Ben wore.
They've been dotted here are there and I've learned a lot about how to set up an outfit shoot - preferably without the camera balancing on a drainpipe with the student neighbours watching out their windows!
Seeing as 2014 is coming to a close I thought I would round up my faves from this year, in lovely chronological order. I'm writing off the downright terrible ones and celebrating the alright ones.

So here we go, don't worry it probably wont be a very long post.

I do love a good outfit post. It's so satisfying to plan it, set it all up and actually take the photos and then be able to share what you've done afterwards. I'm constantly inspired by all your fashion posts aswell so I'm looking forward to seeing what else you've got. I hope you've all had a wonderfully merry time so far, I'm sure we'll all have loads of new gear to share with the world, I know I've got a very attractive pair of Timberlands coming my way!

A Touch of Turquoise

This vintage skirt I believe we've seen before. Paired with one of my favourite tops which found me rather than me finding it. It was one of those moments, in Topshop, when you pick something up that's in completely the wrong place, you can't see it anywhere else and it's just your size. Awesome.
It was also unintentional to add a touch of turquoise with the earrings, bracelet and nails but I think it all comes together nicely.

Shoes - Rocket Dog (Similar here)
Bracelet - Oasis (Similar here)

Now back to another Orange Is The New Black binge!
