Project 365: Week 33

Day 219: We baked the best cake we've ever baked. I'm sure it has everything to do with the new electric whisk Ben got me.

Day 220: Me and Alex were ever so sophisticated while we breakfasted at Jameson's Tea Rooms. Delightful!

Day 221: I've discovered a gorgeous little florist recently. Alex had been raving about it so I had a look. It's called Swallows and Damsons.

Day 222: Picked up this awesome jacket at a vintage yard sale for 3 quid! Aww yeahhh.

Day 223: Look at this! There's some skater somewhere in the wold who looks just like my Ben but a bit weirder!

Day 224: New print arrived in the post today and I love it. It's from Luna Reef if you'd care to take a look.

Tramlines 2015

Every year in Sheffield we have our own music festival called Tramlines seeing as the city is covered with actual tramlines. Anyway, it's really good how it's set up because there are performances at different venues all over the city as well as a mainstage which is at a different location every year. We've had everyone from Public Enemy to our own not yet famous musicians play this festival.

I had such a good time this year because of these guys! My good life long pals from high school Lee, Danny and Aron came to stay over and it just so happened to be the same weekend as Tramlines so I thought I'd show them the musical delights of Sheffield. These guys are seriously dear to me, I've known them since we were all thirteen and to be honest they haven't changed! They're still as goofy as ever, just with added beards!

The first night they stayed we just went to The Broadfield pub for a few drinks. We thought we'd better save ourselves for Saturday night which we planned to be the big one.

On the Saturday we went to The University Arms which is a pub where my friend Al was playing that afternoon. We planned to stay there for a bit and then later that night go to The Shakespeare which throws an awesome mod/60's night. However, we were having such a good, chilled out time sat in the beer garden that we ended up drinking far too much, peaked too early and were all completely conked out by 7pm!!

This is Al and his drummer Corin, they're in a band called Lunar Maria. You should check them out!

We even randomly bumped into my cousins who had also come to Sheffield for the festival!

To end this post, I'd like to share with you a cracking photo which I absolutely love. Us lot in 2008 and us lot today. What a bunch of handsome lads they've become! haha

Rainy Days On The Great Lakes

So we went camping a few weekends back for Stacey's birthday, we being who I refer to as the Sheffield gang. We went all the way up to the Lake District which for those of you who don't know, is not far from the boarder to Scotland. Let me tell ya it was one hell of a drive! You don't realise what a bad position your car seat is in until you've driven for three and a half hours straight!

All was well though when we arrived. We managed to get our tent up pretty quickly with everyone's help. We all then headed into the nearest town where we had a nice pub meal and saw some live bluegrass. It's such a lovely place, we were in Coniston I think it was. It was very much like being in Iceland or Greenland or somewhere similar, what with all the green open space and towering mountains in the distance.

This is us in the morning having quite a varied breakfast. Ben made me and him scrambled egg on toast and Alex and Neil had french toast with berries. No half measures here!

Luckily we were there just in time to catch a country fair nearby. I've never seen so many dogs in one place! So many lurchers and foxhounds and tweed! It was by this lovely lake too which was absolutely gorgeous.

Later that day we went kayaking! We each were in a two person kayak on this massive lake. I was pretty scared at first but it was awesome when we got going.

And after all that we then had the massive drive back!

You can see Alex's post on this over here!

Into The Woods

Hello everyone! Sorry for the sporadic posting of late, I've got no excuse really other than I've just been doing so much! I've had four weekends in a row that have been fully booked up which has been really fun but quite exhausting and they're not even over yet, next weekend will be the last one!

Today I'm sharing with you the awesome weekend I had down in Loughborough with my good friend Beth. It's funny looking at these photos, for the whole twelve years we've known each other we always do the same things when we hang out: play music together and go out for adventures!

This weekend was no different and we spent our time catching up, climbing trees, recording songs and watching films. I had such a good time and I can't wait for next time when Beth comes up here to stay over.

To begin with we set off in our shorts and t shirts (the weather was actually nice) into the woods which were really cool.

Got up close and personal with a cow!

We came back and had some food. Beth made us a really nice tomato risotto which filled us up ready to jam! We recorded ourselves as we usually do. Beth is a really good songwriter and we managed to get a finished recording of one of her songs that she wrote about me (after about a million takes haha).

As you can see not much has changed in the last decade... in fact I think this may only have been six years ago!
