Snapshots from May 2014

 What's going on here then:

I finally bought myself the Stay Gold Mary Rose necklace that I love, as well as a vintage art nouveau brooch.

Been enjoying the sunshine while it lasts, let's hope it does.

Rising early and getting out there :) ..to work :(

A bit of blog planning

Visiting old colleagues and feeling like I never left.

...and these guys too! Speaking of dogs, since I've (as far as they see it) abandoned them, I've decided to advertise myself as a dog walker! It stems from 50% missing them and 50% a genuine love of dogs. Hopefully I'll get some interest, check out my profile.

Getting back into the swing of things by going for a little drive out into the Peaks. Stopped to say hello to these lovelies. Also went for ice cream at the Our Cow Molly farm!
To see where else I end up follow me on FourSquare

And finally, the old 'do. Now that I've got my heart set on chopping it all off I kind of can't wait. To the point where I'm treating it badly because I know it's going soon. I've also decided to let the colour grow out for a change and am really enjoying seeing the roots coming along. Watch this space, shouldn't be long now!

Life Lately: The Times They Are A-Changing

It's been a funny old winter. Seeing as I'll be moving to Sheffield in June, I'm very aware that everything I've done since summer will be the last time I do it at home. Last birthday, last Christmas etc...It's all very exciting though!
I've been flat hunting for Ben and I since, well, this time last year. A bit early I know but I'm gaining a better understanding of what you can get for your money in certain areas. I've seen loads too, they'll just be gone by the time I need them!

It'll also be a big change to finally leave Sainsbury's after 4 years. My first ever job, it's obviously never been my dream job or something I planned to be in forever, but I must say I do love it. More than anything for the people there. They make the job what it is.
It's not a challenging job, I know, but it's one that I actually look forward to going to. So often I hear other people saying how much they dread going to highly stressful jobs and it makes me realise how lucky I am to have such laid back work with good people.
Even the people who work at the other end of the store (it's huge), I don't personally know them but we say hello in passing. It has a real community feeling.

Also I'd say that my name is pretty well known in store and that's nice, feeling that you belong. I'll be sorry to say goodbye when the time comes, I really will.
I'll probably transfer stores to begin with, for ease, but ultimately I aim to be working elsewhere by Christmas. I've done the big corporate company, now I'd much rather like to work in a little independent shop. I've got my eye on a few vintage shops around the city so here's hoping!

"And will I miss it dear? Why yes, we miss the violets always - 'till the roses come."

In the meantime, here are some handsome fellas that I'll also miss terribly.

Hope you're having a good week!

The Not So Distant Past (In Pictures)

I've recently been looking through my boxes of photos. Sorting and organising and having a blast seeing how much things have changed over the last four years.
Mickey's gone from being a young dog to a mature, older male - and a fine specimen at that! He'll be about a year old or younger here and he's just had his 5th birthday last month. From looking at the photos I can really see how grey he's become - no doubt since adopting Toby!
I'm also inspired to go out on more photography outings with Ben. We used to drive out to places all over North Yorkshire quite frequently but haven't as much since university got in the way.
It can be a goal for this year, to go out on more exploration/photography days and take more photos like these!

I love going through old photos, seeing a particular moment in time captured and being taken back to it (like how much hair I used to have!)
Anyway I wanted to share them here with you all and remind you to dust off your own photo albums and relive the past!
