Ladybower Reservoir

 

 

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen one of these photos already. Last week we went for an afternoon walk around Ladybower Reservoir in the Peak District. It was opened by King George VI in 1945 and has superb views of the Derbyshire countryside. We went on a cold, grey day but it was still beautiful. It seemed almost like we were in Scotland or even Canada! I think I may go back sometime to run the trail.

Baslow Edge In The Snow

No words to describe it really. Just absolutely breathtaking views from the top of Baslow Edge that we enjoyed on a snowy Sunday walk with Nikki.

Project 365: Week 34

Day 225: You know your packaging game is strong when the first thing your customer does is photograph the package! This was a card I bought for Florence's birthday from Essi Kimpimaki.

Day 226: Me, Will and Ben from the band went to Yellow Arch Studios to have a jam together as we can only rehearse where there's a proper drum kit. It was such a good day and we got some good tunes out. I did however save the Bob Dylan covers for when they were on their fag break!
                               

Day 227: Had a rather large visitor the other morning!

Day 228: The misty moors of the Peak District

Day 229: Saw this picture of this lady with her banjo and her dog and thought it was perfect so I framed it and put it on my wall.

Day 230: We went for a drive around the Peaks and captured this awe inspiring shot!

Day 229: We're off to Italy on Friday!! Wahoo! While packing I realised how much I love patterns!

Project 365: Week 15

Day 93: Me and Alex went out for breakfast and afterwards went over to haggler's Corner which is a courtyard of artists studios with a coffee house thrown in for good measure. We went through a door not realising that it was a studio until we got to the top. I guess someone forgot to lock their door! It was cool to have a look around inside.  

Day 94: The Sheffield half marathon went right past our door and there were LOADS!!

Day 95: Al came round for tea and had a go on the old banj.

Day 96: Sunday morning breakfast done right. Ben always gets us some pastries to have on a Sunday morning while we watch the grand prix.

 

Day 97: We drove out into the Peaks to find this cactus nursery in Matlock only to discover it wasn't open. So we kept driving and saw some really pretty villages and stopped in Hartington for a quick pint before coming home. Oh and we accidentally wore the same outfit! D'OH!

Day 98: Some lovely spring berries!

 

Day 99: After driving round the Peaks a few days ago and then to and from work, my full tank went down by two bars. I got in it this morning to find that it had magically gone back up to full!! Haha it might not have been worth a photo but it made me smile!

One Warm Saturday

What better way to spend an unusually warm Saturday afternoon than an impromptu adventure into the wilderness!? 

We got a call from Neil and Alex of Cobbles and the Country to say they were heading up to Stanage Edge and if we were up for it. We did of course so we got our boots on and off we went. 

Stanage Edge is like the rocky border between Sheffield and the high peak of Derbyshire and is a prime location for climbers. It's also got some really flat plains that almost look kind of wild and western. 

When we made it to the top of the rocks we nestled ourselves in a little cove to shelter from the wind. I must say though, it has been lovely and warm this weekend, definitely the warmest it's been this year so far. It was just bloody windy at the top. We cracked open the flasks of tea and enjoyed the view! 

Later that evening we all, including our friends Stacey, Sidd, Hayley and Daz, went our for tea at Anchorage for Neil and Alex's joint birthday meal where Ben had a massive great whacking Lobster! It looked like it took a lot of effort to get through. 

Good views, good food and good company, what a brilliant day! Hope you're having an awesome weekend too. :)

Tents, Tors + Chickens

We got back today from our mini camping trip in Edale. We somehow managed to get a week off together so we've jammed a load of plans into a short amount of time, therefore, one night of camping!

As you can see in the photos above it was the tiniest tent ever. With the wind and rain last night I wasn't sure it was still gonna be over our heads when we woke up! 

It was so cool waking up to animal noises though, the field next to us had sheep in and major plus - chickens wandering around! 

They were the first to greet us when we arrived and first to wake us up in the morning!! 

We went on a really long walk in the late afternoon with the intention of making it to the top of Mam Tor which is one of the many hills of the Peak District. 

I shot a whole film on the way up and luckily managed to get 2 photos from the very top before it finished. You end up taking so many more than it actually feels like you have, I totally wasn't expecting the film to end when it did. I suppose I did take quite a lot of sheep, I couldn't resist though, they kept coming up to me and looking directly at me!
There were so many beautiful views all the way up. We even saw a couple of dead sheep in various stages of decomposition which was pretty cool.

These two below are from the very top. It was quite a tough trek up there and the weather didn't help. It was that kind of weather that you just can't dress right for. One minute it was chucking it down and the next it was blaring sun. Glad to have made it though.

Thank God! Now back down to the pub!
